We had a wonderful trip with my Mom and Ernie! The day that they left I had my first SFI class. So far I've only been in class for a week. The first two weeks we are talking about vowel sounds and we have also talked about sentence structure, colors, basic conversational questions/answers, verbs, etc.
I am the only person in this class from the U.S. There are two other girls from Cameroon (It's a country in Africa) and everyone else is from Syria. There are probably about 25 of us in class. Everyone is very nice and speaks their home language as well as English. The teacher doesn't use much English though so sometimes we're a little lost as to what to do.
I bought a new commuting bike and Wow! It's so wonderful! I ride to the city each day for class as well as drop off and pick up for all the kids. It's a good hour and a half on the bike each day. It's such a peaceful time for me though (except when Emma tries to throw her shoes, toys, helmet, and body out of the bike trailer as I'm crossing the road). I'm sure as the weather changes I'll find myself driving more often, but they heat the sidewalks in the city so they shouldn't freeze. Plus, parking is kinda expensive so I'd prefer to just bike. We shall see.
Emma has had to start napping at school when I'm gone and that really isn't her favorite. She often wakes up sad/grumpy and she's been crying before we go to school telling me how much I will miss her. I'm hoping as we move into the next week she will adjust a bit more. It's no fun to leave a little one who is so sad.
